EU Part-FCL Human Performance & Communications Theory – David Cockburn

Description

CURRENT EDITION: 2nd Edition February 2017

ISBN: 978-1-84336-077-3

David Cockburn served for many years in the Royal Air Force as a pilot and flying instructor, amassing nearly 6000 flying hours including over 1000 hours instructing on jet trainers and 1000 hours on light piston aeroplanes. During that time he specialised in teaching mainly visual navigation techniques to pilots and navigators in the air and on the ground. He holds a UK Airline Transport Pilots Licence, and since leaving the RAF has worked as a ground instructor in professional flying training schools in this country and abroad, and is the author of several professional training books and manuals. He continues to give flying instruction at flying clubs to PPL and IMC rating students.

Having decided to concentrate on private pilot training, it became apparent that students and private pilots found it difficult to find the practical and important information they needed from the detailed descriptions in the available textbooks. These guides are intended to provide that information in an easily understood form.

The first part of this book has been produced primarily to provide the necessary information for an applicant for a Private Pilots Licence in the study for the examination on the subject of Human Performance and Limitations, although it is not intended to cover the complete syllabus in extreme detail. However, it will also give those who have already passed the examination a document to which they can refer in order to maintain and improve their knowledge and therefore the safety of their flying, without going into an excessive amount of detail.

The second part is intended to assist an applicant for a Private Pilot’s Licence in the study for the Communications theoretical examination. Applicants for a Flight Radio Telephonist’s Licence should also refer to the current version of the UK CAA’s CAP 413. However, this book is also intended to give those who have already passed the examination a document to which they can refer to maintain and improve their knowledge and therefore the safety of their flying, without going into an excessive amount of detail. Other books in the series are:

  • Flying Training
  • EU Part-FCL PPL Radiotelephony Communications Manual
  • EU Part-FCL PPL Aviation Law & Operational Procedures
